Bodies of Water

I have been collecting GoPro footage of blue spaces in England since 2021, predominantly the English Channel at different points in Dorset and Devon, as well as the Rother, Brue and Exe Rivers. By working through the footage frame by frame, I am able to isolate moments of colour, light and liveness at different times of the day and the year. The still frames are masked as composites in dialogue with each other, and the colour remains as it was when captured.

By collecting old frames from markets and second-hand shops and removing the original images, I consider the temporality and value of a captured moment, the imperfections of wood and glass, and the unexpected colour language of wild English water.

Using the giclée print method on archival paper, specialised inkjet, pigment-based inks ensure the highest quality image is produced. The work is then mounted into wood and glass frames, which have been restored for the new images. The colours are natural, and each image is a one-off.
